This mouse pincushion and sewing bag is a present for someone who had mice living in their sewing room- you know who you are. They were quite happy nestled in the fabric living their little mice life.
But alas, it came to an end so I made this little set for Christmas. Merry Christmas to all.

Josh's monkey quilt

Finished the second of the five birthday quilts I planned on making this year. I am up to July but there are still five weeks left in the year. The backing on this has little monkeys lifting weights. The block is monkey wrench and this is an adaptation of a commercial pattern.

latest wood pots

Here are a few pots from the Halloween wood firing. I was able to help load but was in China for the actual firing. I had glazed the interior in a red shino, however somehow some blue appeared on some of the pots which I think was fabulous. My next project is to do some glazing- I have quite a stack of pots waiting for the finishing touches.

Another quilt for the silent auction my sister is participating in for a child of a co-worker. Off to the post office tomorrow to get the quilts to her.

Grandma's placemats

Last year for Christmas I made a series of place mats for Grandma Wilson. I had a ball making them. Most are original or adaptations of patterns. As you can see, I can't figure out how to rotate pictures, but you get the idea. It was fun watching her open each one individually and be surprised at how crazy they all were.

some quilt gifts

My younger sister works with a couple who have an ill child- poor little guy is on the heart transplant list. They are planning on a fundraiser to assist the family so I decided to make this wall hanging to send to her to add to the silent auction.

This little frog wall hanging is for my friend the school psychologist. Despite the fact that every year she reminds me that she is younger than me (for six months anyway) I give her something to hang in her office I think the kids will like for her birthday. This is an assortment of musical frogs.

Here is a quilt that I made for the young woman who grew up next door- she just welcomed her second baby, Mallory. Her dad was a pro ball player so they got a kick out of the baseball backing.

Kate's quilt

Finally finished a quilt I had designed for Kate quite a while ago. Anyone that knows her will understand. I am not sure how to rotate it, but you get the idea. The back is a fabric from NewZealand that is little flip flops.

Today is the maiden voyage of the kiln. We are doing the test fire- so far so good.
Next step is firing actual pots.

A new quilt

Finished this quilt over the weekend. It was rainy and cool so I couldn't get into the gardens. I tried something new and it was fun!

new pots

Here are a few new pots. The white one is fired Raku and the lines are actual horsehair. When they are applied to the pot they shrivel like that. The largest is about 11"

The others are from Electric kiln, except the smallest which was wood fired.

Spring has finally arrived, the gardens are in, the hummingbirds are back so all is well in Baldwinsville.

Winter in NY

I haven't seen pheasants here in a long time they have developed in this area so much. When I first glanced out I thought they were wild turkeys that sometimes stroll through the yards. We occasionally see Owls, Foxes and Coyotes too but they are getting less frequent.
This squirrel was determined to get the seed in this contraption from Josh and Kate. He tried everything, reaching, chewing, trying to pry the bars open for several days. Finally he gave up. This is the favorite feeder of the chickadees.
This little goldfinch didn't seem to care that I was right on the other side of the window. I got this window feeder when I went to get sunflower seed yesterday, bringing the winter feeder total to seven. Several of my neighbors have multiple feeders to so we have many birds. Today so far we had cardinals, titmice, juncos, red and gold finches, chickadees, sparrows and grosbeaks.
